This film's journey started back in my sophomore year of college when I first began developing the idea for this film as a feature script. When the opportunity arose to adapt it into a short film, and to collaborate with the talented director Emily Statler, I was thrilled to bring this project to life in a new form.
As the producer, I dove into this project with everything I had. Once we returned to campus for the semester, I launched and exceeded our crowdfunding goal, raising over $3,000 (check out our gofundme!). I took on key responsibilities, including managing the budget, overseeing production design, and coordinating craft services. I enjoyed scouting locations around Ithaca (and beyond), and successfully securing and then managing our six key filming locations that allowed us to get the most out of every scene.
In pre-production, we assembled an incredible team of cast and crew, all of whom brought their talent, creativity, and positive energy to the table. I collaborated directly with our six department heads to ensure everything was getting done effectively and on schedule. Everyone’s dedication to this film made all the difference, and we couldn’t have completed this project without them. We filmed this over the course of four long days. It took a lot of hard work and meticulous organization, but the results were worth every minute.
As we dove into post-production, I worked very closely with our editor and composer to bring this film into its final form. We had the amazing opportunity to screen “The Martini Shot” at the Ithaca State Theater on December 7th, along with our talented colleagues, and we are so excited to share it online and to film festivals soon!
